Imperfection?

A change is needed
in our perception
Of God's true
life conception.
Life isn't about
perfection -
That's Satan's
clever deception.
Life is having
a real connection
To God -
with clear reception.
Afterall, are not
imperfections
Just bigoted
misconceptions?

Peace

Peace
- an abstract concept
or a realistic goal?
Ask any amongst us
who've suffered hatred's toll.
Is it possible to find
a place to dwell,
where peace is prevalent
instead of war's hell?
The first place to search
is within one's heart -
if you find love not hatred
you've made a good start.
We know within our souls,
peace is only found
where mutual respect
and God's love abound.
So let love and respect
shine from your soul;
and life's hatred problems
will stop claiming their toll.

Harden My Heart, O Lord!

Harden my heart, O Lord,
That I may truly experience
the miraculous wonder
of they blessings.
For my heart is so soft,
and is aching with
the pain and torment
which surrounds me.
Such suffering and loss
overpowers my senses
and malignantly seeps
through to my soul.

Embrace my heart, O Lord
let my spirit soar
with wonder and love
and see past today
to the miraculous end.
Keep me ever mindful
each of us learn
and grow through our
trials and tribulations.
I know we must tread
through turmoil, to reach
peace at the end.

Protect my heart, O Lord,
that the harshness of life
does not diminish the value
I place on the many
blessings bestowed upon me.
Allow me to see and feel
the joys and the love
thy blessings do intend.
Don't let me get mired down
in the pits of depression.
Allow your love to shine
through me to help others.

Amen

I Hide and the Willow Weeps

I Hide - -
I hide within myself.
And
I hide within Mother Nature -
allowing her to envelop me
and hold me within her bosom;
keeping me safe in the wilds
from civilization and
all it's glorious advantages,
it's horrific pains.
I'd wither and die without her.
She, in all her majestic royalty
draws me nearer to God, My Father.

The showering rain hides my tears
till the sun dries my eyes,
The forest surrounds me,
comforting me as only
a parent's loving touch can.
The sweetness of wild blossoms
soothes my troubled mind,
relaxes my very soul -
While a grassy knoll
by a creek beckons
rest, beneath the willow;
Tis it which weeps always
for mankind.

As the bird's sing their lullaby
the sun slips beneath the horizon
and the stars light up the night;
the wind whispers softly -
Mother Nature and God the Father
You've created an enchanting world -
Yet I hide! -
Crying out to mankind as I do -
Open your eyes!  See
what you destroy
as you seek to improve!
And the willow still weeps.

Freedom's Irony

It's true - brave little drummer boys
once led marching lads to war.
Drums and guns in hands of babes
    we depended on before.
But today my little drummer boy
    you are but a child.
Stop drumming in the city streets
     before your beat grows wild.
Indulge in some video games
    or go laugh at cartoons.
Thoughts of guns and violence
at your age, is way too soon.
Go beat your drum at school
    while marching with the band.
Enjoy childhood's peace with ease
    in this wondrous land.
Poor little drummer boy -
your beat's so wracked with pain.
Guns brought death to your school
and freedon's irony left it's stain.

My Pen Is My Chisel

I'm like the archaeologist
working within a tomb,
meticulously extracting
each treasure from the womb.
He chisels at the stone:
bringing life to history,
unearthing precious artifacts,
piecing together a mystery.
A life encased in stone,
hidden from humanity,
is slowly revealed -
in all it's glorious profanity.

I search within my self,
beneath the tears of stone,
determined to free my soul
from it's stone cold home.
My pen is my chisel,
memories are my treasures -
some easily attainable,
others too deep to measure.
But I will continue to chisel
at my heart so hardened,
till my soul flies free
and I've received God's pardon.

God's Garden

Sometimes off in the distance
If I squint my eyes just right -
I can almost see God's Garden
In the shimmering sunlight.

Lilies, roses, and pineapples;
Oaks, violets, and corn galore;
A sunlit path through the garden,
Who could want for more?

With the pure love of a father
God bequeathed his garden to us!
To care for his plants and animals,
In man - God put his trust.

Today instead of trees and plants,
Giant skyscrapers offer shade;
Concrete and asphault are the weeds
In the loving garden God once made.

The Lone Tree

If only that lone tree
could speak aloud to me,
I'm sure he'd tell a story
of years of standing in glory,
And once being a part of a grove
before people and cars did rove,
Of picnics at his feet
as sweethearts came to meet,
And children swinging into the sky
from him limbs way up high,
Of fruit held at his fingertips
just waiting to grace one's lips,
Now memories of gone-by days
before man's super highways.
For today, alone he does stand
on a narrow strip of land,
With lanes of asphault on each side
yet the lone tree-
             maintains his pride.

A Dove Named Daydream

A dove named Daydream visited with me today
and told me the story, or at least what they say,
about how he got his name and how he came to be.
"Twas that God needed a symbol for all mankind to see,
to renew dreams of peace - that symbol is me.
For upon my wings are daydreams of peace, love, and harmony.
Peace of Earth is man's dream, God's promise for above,
I bring that dream to mind, as well as God's love.
So I am named Daydream for dreams of a better day."
And with dreams filling my mind, he went upon his way.

Poets,Poetry, current contest winners poems

This site - J Mark Press offers legitimate poetry contests and has some great poems posted to read. I have personally worked with J Mark Press in the past. You can find my name listed as a third place winner for the book "The Sunlit Path". I suggest this site and their contests to any up and coming poet wishing to have their works read and possibly published in a poetry collection but not in a big anthology of hundreds of different poems till yours seems to get lost in the maze of rhymes and poems!

Descension

In the depths of the night,
While the moon sleeps soundly
And skeletons hidden within the mind
Threaten your spirit profoundly;
It's then the descension begins,
As privacy proves not a friend,
Rather a stage for snarling shadows
Which arise, refusing to rescind.
Worry, doubt, confusion, panic, fear--
All shadows emerging in the night,
Mocking the soul's pitiful cries
With each piercingly rabid bite.
Trapped within a mental quagmire,
The skeletal shadows of the past
Pull you further and further
Within their torturous grasp.
One more soul mentally ill
Descends to the Portals of Hell.
Will your mind and soul be saved?
Only time and God can tell.

Life's Lessons

Before the keeping of my time began
While my life's spirit was still above
God counseled me on what to learn
Then sent my spirit here with love.

With specific goals to achieve
And pure determination not to fail
My spirit began it's journey here
And on an Autumn breeze, set sail.

Somewhere between Heaven and Earth
My subconscious and spirit entwined -
They try to keep me focused now
On life's lesson plan God designed.

Sometimes I choose the hardest path;
And sometimes I fail -
But I always know within myself,
With God's help I'll finally prevail.

With each of life's lessons I conquer,
I'll become worthier to deserve
One of the wondrous spots in Heaven
For God, in my name, to reserve.
